i know this machine! its shite. very likely its the mains cable spool assembly which has cheap contacts internally. The only way to get to em is to effectively gut the thing, which is accomplished by taking off the bag compartment cover and removing all the screws, then flip the beast over and remove 2 screws (could be 3—dont really remember) and then the whole cowboy rig falls into several pieces. Probably better to remove the spool completely and use a couple of screw down wire connectors to reattach the mains. if screws arent present, then its the snap together kind. the rules of repair state…

If it sticks or jams, then force it! if it breaks, then it needed to be replaced anyway….

but, honestly mate. this machine sucks—that is to say it does not produce much of a vacuum. might be better to hit the resale shops and find a good dyson can vac.
